Social Studies
What the students are doing?
What am I interested in?
What resources does the teacher use?
Students in grade 10 social studies have a project about the 1920s. In the past week students have been learning about music, Technology, art, and many other things about the 1920s. The students will pick one of the picked topics to work and make a 10 minute presentation
They must pick a secondary topic, for example, technology. Then they will pick a wide topic like electronics and then explain smaller things about the topic.
They must show all the websites they use and credit them on a separate page. The presentation is preferred to be in point form instead of in paragraphs. The students get 4 work blocks to work on the slides. They can also use time outside of school to work on the project presentation about it.
In social studies there are a lot of interesting topics including wars, technology, and many more. For me, I am currently interested in world wars. There is so much info to learn about, including treaties, new laws and rules, fighting techniques like dog fights, and many other interesting things. They also learn about war bonds and propaganda.
The teacher uses the whiteboard to project notes. He also writes on the whiteboard to share notes and to give a better explanation. He often gives worksheets relating to the topic. The worksheet could just be filled in, or they could challenge your knowledge by testing you. He also uses books like textbooks and other educational books. He also gives quizzes and tests. They can be challenging, but he gives you details on what to study. The teacher also helps students out with problems they cant do or have difficulty figuring out.

Social studies are about learning history on subjects like countries history. It could also be about wars and past conflicts people and countries had with each other. It includes the geography and events like volcano eruptions and tsunamis. Social studies require critical thinking to use evidence and to draw conclusions using evidence.
